Hidden Hills Firewise had a very successful launch in 2025
- Hidden Hills Firewise achieved recognition as a Firewise USA® Community — designated by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
- All of the Hidden Hills residents now live within a Firewise Community.
- We have formed a core team of volunteers and community leaders.
- We created a monthly newsletter and educational campaign that reaches Hidden Hills residents.
- Residents can now download the Hidden Hills Firewise Certificate to receive discounts on their home insurance.
- We completed a Community Wildfire Risk Assessment to evaluate threats and developed a 3-year action plan to mitigate them.
- With the help of our partner, the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains, residents have received Free Home Ignition Zone evaluations to educate homeowners on home hardening and defensible space. Thanks to these evaluations, homeowners have made their homes and communities more resilient to wildfires.
- We have developed educational materials and held workshops to help residents learn how to stay safe before, during, and after wildfires.
- Our Firewise website has grown into an essential resource for our residents.
- We have held public events to help educate residents about wildfire mitigation.
We are off to a great start, but we cannot do this without your help!
What we need you to do:
- Get a Free Home Ignition Zone evaluation.
- Harden your home and create a Defensible Space around your home.
- Use our informative website to learn more about wildfire mitigation.
- Report your Firewise Activities. For Hidden Hills Firewise to remain in “good standing,” Firewise USA® requires residents to report their wildfire mitigation activities. It is quick and easy on the Hidden Hills Firewise website. You are already doing many of the activities; you just need to report them—it only takes a few minutes.
- Get your friends and neighbors to also participate in our wildfire mitigation efforts—what your neighbor does or does not do affects you.
Our Mission
The mission of Hidden Hills Firewise is to collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies to protect life and property from wildfire in Hidden Hills, California. We focus on projects that educate homeowners on safeguarding their homes and creating defensible space. Additionally, we engage in fuel mitigation efforts to reduce wildfire risk in the open spaces of Hidden Hills.
While our primary goal is to protect lives and property, we are also committed to reducing the cost and improving the availability of homeowners’ insurance—particularly in light of rising rates across California.
Our Role
Hidden Hills Firewise serves as a communications hub between homeowners and fire-related and municipal agencies. This two-way communication ensures that our initiatives are shaped by, and responsive to, the needs of the community. Our work is primarily funded through state, local, and corporate grants.
